Onion Layered Hamburger

Ground beef patties stuffed with a chilled butter-and-onion-soup mixture, browned in a skillet and topped with a quick pan sauce.
Directions
- Have butter soft enough to cream, mix thoroughly with dry onion soup. Chill. At serving time make eight thin patties of hamburg. Put some mixture on center of patties, top with more patties and work edges together well with fingers to seal. Brown hamburger in a little butter in a heavy skillet. Remove and add some water to drippings in skillet, pour over hamburger.
- Have the butter soft enough to cream, and mix it thoroughly with the dry onion soup mix. Chill.
- At serving time, make eight thin patties from the ground beef (hamburg).
- Put some of the butter mixture in the center of a patty, top with another patty, and work the edges together well with your fingers to seal.
- Brown the hamburgers in a little butter in a heavy skillet.
- Remove the hamburgers. Add some water to the drippings in the skillet, then pour it over the hamburgers.
