Hamburger Layer Cake

A seasoned ground beef mixture is shaped into two baked rounds and layered cake-style with a sauteed filling of onions, green peppers, mushrooms, and tomato.

Directions

  1. Combine eggs, catsup, bread crumbs, 1 1/2 tsp salt, 5 tsp Worcestershire sauce. Add meat and mix lightly. Divide mixture in half. Shape each half into 8 inch circles. Place on lightly greased jelly roll pan. Bake at 450 degree oven 10 minutes. Heat oil in skillet, add onions, peppers and mushrooms, saute 5 minutes. Add tomato, 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce and 1/2 tsp salt. Cook 2 minutes longer. Sandwich half of vegetables between meat rounds. top with remaining vegetables.

  4. Place on a lightly greased jelly roll pan and bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes.
  5. Heat the oil in a skillet; add the onions, green peppers, and mushrooms and saute 5 minutes.
  6. Add the diced tomato, 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce, and 1/2 tsp salt. Cook 2 minutes longer.
  7. Sandwich half of the vegetables between the meat rounds. Top with the remaining vegetables.
