Chocolate Upside Down Cake

A quick chocolate upside-down cake that starts with a fudge cake mix poured over a boiled corn syrup, brown sugar, and pecan topping layered with chocolate tid bits, baked in a 9x9 pan.

Directions

  1. In a saucepan combine syrup and sugar, margarine and salt. Bring to a boil stirring until butter is melted. Stir in nuts. Pour into 9 x 9 in pan.
  2. Mix cake mix as directed. Sprinkle tid bits over mixture in pan. Pour batter over tid bits. Bake 35-40 minutes.
  1. In a saucepan, combine the dark corn syrup, light brown sugar, butter (or margarine), and salt. Bring to a boil, stirring, until the butter is melted.
  2. Stir in the pecans. Pour into a 9 x 9-inch pan.
  3. Mix the fudge cake mix as directed on the package (using the egg).
  4. Sprinkle the Chocolate Tid Bits over the syrup mixture in the pan. Pour the cake batter over the tid bits.
  5. Bake 35-40 minutes (temperature not given).
  6. Serve with whipped cream.
