A baked bean side dish combining canned black beans and vegetarian baked beans with onion and green pepper in a sweet-tangy sauce of ketchup, brown sugar, mustard and Worcestershire.

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9 by 11 baking dish with cooking oil spray.
  2. Pour all of the beans with their liquids into the dish. Peel and coarsely chop the onion, and add it to the dish. Seed and dice the bell pepper, and add it to the dish.
  3. Add the ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce and garlic powder. Stir gently, but thoroughly, until the ingredients are mixed well.
  4. Bake the beans 30-35 minutes or until the mixture is bubbly and the onion and pepper are tender. Serve at once or cover with foil and leave in the oven (turned off) until ready to serve.
